America’s Got Talent finalist, Donald Braswell II was showcased in a concert in a live mini-concert on Sunday, March 15 at Detroit Public TV. Circulation for the concert was the Detroit PBS studio’s range into 5 states and Canada. The concert filled an 8-9pm (eastern) time slot during the studio’s pledge week. Following the viewer results from this concert, PBS expects to present Mr. Braswell in a full concert performing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra later in the year.
Braswell’s big voice and swaggering good looks impresses viewers. He displays a broad repertoire of opera, adult contemporary, gospel, pop, foreign romantic, and easy listening. The classically trained tenor is a Juilliard graduate who sings in fluent Italian and Spanish, rivaling other primo tenors or Julio Iglesias. Donald’s dynamic sold-out show in February at the Las Vegas Hilton wowed concert goers, including fans who flew there from all across the country. His songs bring the old greats back to life, like Robert Goulet, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Bobby Darin. His Elvis routine had hearts racing and brought the audience to their feet in one of number of standing ovations.
Noted producer, Diane Bliss, spotted Braswell during competition on the America’s Got Talent. Fan emails prompted her to eventually form the sure-to-be successful marriage between PBS and Braswell. Ms. Bliss previously orchestrated Riverdance, Michael Buble, and Daniel O’Donnel PBS performances.
Seats in the studio were filled within minutes of when the invitation was emailed, prompting PBS to set up a party at the St Regis Hotel where attendees watched the live presentation on a big screen TV. Braswell joined the partiers after the show to celebrate the new union. Braswell has presented a number of benefit concerts in his desire to “give back” to the world. His charm is his humility and concern of others. March 21 he is launching a North American concert tour in Asheville, NC at the Thomas Wolfe Theater. Donald Braswell Fan Club members, who call themselves “Braswellians”, will be in audiences of all performances.
