Mission Nansen created a series of orphanages and provides scholarships for students and teachers at the University of Kharkov. Nansen also proposed a number of business model – the most famous in the city of Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv Mykhailovka between. Later, during the Second World War, in 1944 Ukraine back his lost status by passing the Law on the Establishment of the People’s Commissariat for Foreign Affairs in the Soviet Ukraine (1946 – Ministry of Foreign Affairs). During the Second World War a large number of prisoners of war over Ukraine in the camps in Norway. Many of these persons related to or who have been in various ways by the Norwegian people. Soviet troops took part in the liberation of Norway in 1944-45.

Only in 1991, after Ukraine’s independence and joined the international scene, the relations between Norway and Ukraine to begin to improve. In 1992, Ukraine and Norway established diplomatic relations. />
