Information about the orchestra and performance
I’d like to play clarinet in college, but i know it is highly competative. im willing to work hard and take lessons. ive been playing since third grade too and like it a lot.
does anyone out there play an instrument in college? would you share your experiences with me?
also does anyone have any tips on playing an instrument in college?

A lot depends on what college you’re going to and whether or not you’re going to major in music. Best thing is to get a private teacher, preferably one at the college where you’re going to attend, either the clarinet professor or one of their grad students.
I say this because it’s *much* harder to get into an orchestra as a clarinetist, than it is for a string player, or for a clainetist to get into band. There are at most only three or four clarinets in an orchestra, and they have to be pretty much soloist level. . but again, it depends on the quality of the group.
