Historic piano felled by the Ohio weather; Steinway comes to the rescue
The historic piano that Apollo’s Fire was supposed to have used in Mozart concerts this weekend is history. The 1877 Bluthner, which was loaned by the Frederick Historic Piano Collection in Ashburnham, Mass., is “suffering from serious technical problems due to the dry winter climate of Ohio,” said Apollo’s Fire music director Jeannette Sorrell. A Steinway piano is being substituted.
