Sponsoring the Founder's Chair
The Concertmaster's Chair has been renamed the Founder's Chair in honor of our Founding
Director Emeritus Maestro Louis Campiglia for his distinguished career with the Young
Artists Symphony Orchestra. Your gift can be designated to support the Concertmaster's
needs and activities.
For the orchestra year September '05 - June '06, the Founder's Chair has been generously
endowed by Robie and Raymond Evans.
The Concertmaster's responsibilities call for leadership within the violin sections. This
musician occupies the first chair to the conductor's immediate left, determines the bowing
and fingering, assists younger players and helps members to refine difficult passages.
He/she tunes the orchestra before the conductor approaches the podium. The Concertmaster
asserts an etiquette that inspires a meticulous performance.
